The Inscriptions of Ceylon Volume I – Early Brāhmī Inscriptions is an outstanding work of Prof. Senarat Paranavitha, and it contains the cave inscriptions from 3rd Century B.C to 1st Century A.C. and other inscriptions in the early Brāhmī scripts. There are one thousand two hundred thirty-four inscriptions with estampages. A map of locations of inscriptions and a large chart of the evolution of Sinhala letters are valuable additions.
